Martin H. Simon

Go to Corbis and put in Martin H. Simon Pentagon, to see 64 images returned, seven of which were taken on September 11th, 2001. While not displaying any special level of access for Mr. Simon on that day, when viewed in the context of the related images, Mr. Simon work is seen for what it is---a tawdry, sentimental suck up to official Washington and the Bush regime.

And ever so common at that. Six of the seven images were taken from the restricted press area of the Citgo and look much like everyone else's:
The Citgo dirt mound under foot as our grounding...

Helicopters, helicopters...

A pair of splendid phallic symbols rising out of the smoky mists (he may have been the only one allowed that special privilege---at least during daylight hours ...

The ubiquitous telephoto lens...

But the seventh image from 9/11 was taken from across the highway, from the elevated perch where so many others also got their pictures. Was Simon run over there on one of those infamous Pentagon golf carts in order to provide a bit of range to the file of his work?

This odd image out, however, is of some interest, in that we see traffic cones and a traffic cop denying the use of what appears to be the exit lane. I've posted it to my blog about the traffic conditions in the area.

Then Mr. Simon rounds out his file---just like all the other trained seals in the Washington press corps---with the same cheap generic shots of the patriotism of flag-pattern attire...

And the war whorehousedom of America's fighting men...

Plus the cheap religiosity of the true bleeding hearts amongst us as they pray...

With the frosting of a hagiography of a mighty leader in action...

or at sweet repose...

And what does Mr. Martin H. Simon get out of all that? ACCESS, dear ones! Invitations to the SWELLEST parties!

For all the years of the Bush regime---like this gala on May 7th, 2007.

Mr. Martin H. Simon--Washington press corp photographer in good standing!
